Who Trains the Trainers? How idloom Helps Clarins Keep Teams Up-to-date

Global beauty and skincare brand Clarins has earned a reputation for creating high-quality products that are both effective and environmentally sustainable. 

Now available in 148 countries, Clarins is committed to delivering a consistent customer experience. With more than 8,000 Clarins employees and thousands external Beauty Consultants, however, the company needs clear and consistent training materials to ensure all have the tools they need to increase customer satisfaction.

The Clarins International Training Department is responsible for training development and deployment. With help from idloom, the department is better equipped to keep teams up-to-date.

The Situation: Creating Educational Consistency

"We have approximately 30,000 learners," says Isabelle Mahut, Digital Learning Manager at Clarins. "Among these learners, some are Clarins employees, but most are Beauty Consultants who work for retailers and external distributors. We need solutions that allow us to train them even though they are not our employees."

Further complicating this effort is the fact that Clarins’ International Training Department doesn't directly train users. Instead, they guide local training teams to deploy training curricula that work for their teams. She also notes that Clarins encourages the use of blended learning techniques, which means training materials must be well-suited to both in-person and digital learning. 

The Solution: Event Management with idloom

To provide a single point of entry for employees and Beauty Consultants, the training department developed the Clarins support app, Clarins e-pro. This master app offers direct access to the Clarins ecosystem, including the training component provided by idloom. 'Our objective is that each learner using the app can seamlessly access a comprehensive training system,' says Mahut.

The application lets trainers access all relevant training events. "We use idloom in several ways," notes Mahut. "For newer users, we directly communicate on one specific event, such as a master class. Teams that have been using idloom for a long time, meanwhile, can access a training plan with many training events." In practice, this means that through the Clarins e-pro app, learners can either connect to idloom for one specific event or the larger training catalog. 

 

In their search for a powerful tool to both streamline and customise the training experience, Clarins’ International Training Department found in idloom a responsive partner: "The main success for us with idloom is that thanks to seamless integrations, we know that each country can communicate on these events, and the end learner will only see the events that are for them," says Mahut.

The Results: Tailored Training for Team Success

"As the International Training Department, we want to make sure that our users have the right tools for their needs," says Mahut. "We never mandate that they use our tools. Instead, they can use the tools they need at the pace they want."

To facilitate this effort, Mahut trains local training teams in using idloom to create and manage events. And if she doesn't have the answers, she can rely on idloom’s support team.

 

With multiple projects now in progress, idloom is working side by side with Clarins to deliver the best set of solutions for evolving educational environments.
By combining advanced development and native integrations, Clarins International Training Department aims to deliver simple customer journey ,"the objective is that if a learner or Beauty Consultant already has a Clarins e-pro account, all the information will be pre-filled," and more comprehensive data management. Mahut highlights the value of training statistics, "we have great expectations regarding the statistics. We have stats for each event, but we know that we could go further to provide our head of training with more detail to help build future courses." Thinking ahead, the International Training Department looks forward to see when “(…) all metadata is integrated automatically into idloom." By putting clean data into business intelligence tools, Clarins can anticipate changing needs and build programs that reflect brand values.
